Grew up in the Detroit area in a sailing family. Gained extensive small boat sailing experience as a junior sailor and spent summers cruising with her family from 1979 to 1985. Veteran of a variety of races, including the Adams Cup in 1988. Currently ranked among the top 10 U.S. sailors in the European Dinghy Class. A certified U.S. Sailing Association instructor and trainer. Received a bachelor's degree in English and political science from Miami University in 1990, where she was captain of the sailing team for two years. Before joinin the America3 team, she worked as a sailing instructor and substitute elementary school teacher in Fort Lauderdale.(1/1/95)
