Maxwell-Pierson (Somerville, NJ and Philadelphia, PA) Age: 30 Height: 5'11" Weight: 170 lbs. Won the 1992 Olympic bronze medal in the Women's Pair rowing competition in Barcelona (with Anna Seaton). Has built an impressive record in her 11-year competitive rowing career, winning more than 18 international and 16 national titles. Twice named by U.S. Rowing Association as Female Athlete of the Year (1990 and 1991; in 1990 with Seaton). Among her more notable wins: 12 times first place in U.S. National Rowing Women's Championships: pair, four and eight rowing events from 1988-1991; silver medal in 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle, Washington; six first or second place titles in the Lucerne International Rowing Regatta (1987, 1989, 1991 and 1992). Holds a bachelor's degree from the School of hotel management, Cornell University where she is part of the University's Athletic Hall of Fame. Has combined an active athletic schedule with hotel management career for past four years as director of sales with Embassy Suites in Philadelphia. Her husband, a student, plans to join her in San Diego beginning this summer.(1/1/95) |
