A native of South Carolina, Leslie has lived in New Zealand since 1973, where she is considered one of the country's top sailors and has been active in other sports such as squash and volleyball since the late 1970s. Among her other sailing accomplishments: New Zealand's Women's 470 champion every year since 1985; New Zealand Women's Keelboat champion in 1990, 1991 and 1993; second place in the 1989 470 Women's World Championship's in Japan; 1990 Women's World Keelboat Championship; 1991 Women's North American 470s Championship. Has a bachelor's degree from Canterbury University and a teaching diploma in physical education from Christchurch College. Married.(1/1/95)
