Born in Rhode Island but has lived in many places, including Washington DC and Evergreen, Colorado. Attended Rhode Island's Salve Regina College and the University of Rhode Island. Learned to sail in New Hampshire as a child, but only began sailing seriously in 1990. She has been sailing full time since then, with the exception of eight months in 1991, when she worked for fashion designer Donna Karan in New York. Her sailing, racing and cruising experience includes: the 1993 European and the 1991 and 1993 Caribbean circuits (both big boats); the 1994 Southern Ocean Racing Circuit (SORC) England and running a 40' boat in Maine in 1992. Received her RYA Yachtmasters Offshore License in 1993 (equivalent to a U.S. Coast Guard license).(1/1/95)
