Has sailed all her life in Maine. Holds a bachelor's degree in history and English literature from Brown University. After graduation in 1991, she began a journalism career by working for Inc. magazine in Boston, but left to race in Florida and the Caribbean. Has extensive experience racing big boats, including the Caribbean Gold Cup, Transatlantic and Fastnet races. Most recently served as foredeck/rigger for Dawn Riley on Heineken, the only all-women's crew in the grueling nine-month 1993-94 Whitbread Round the World race.(1/1/95)
